Discover

Read an article or two, a thread on Twitter, or a research summary. Watch an introductory video. Have a conversation, attend a TeachMeet, observe a lesson.

What do I notice? What do you wonder? How does this link to my classroom? How might you use this?

Deepen

Modify or strengthen something you are already doing. Read related research papers or books, contribute to INSET, plan with a colleague, assist with supporting early career teachers, write a blog post, present at a TeachMeet, develop your subject knowledge/pedagogical content knowledge, use what you have learnt to write resources.

What would make this even better? How could I sharpen this? What is the theory underpinning your practice?

Develop or extend

Take a step further; go beyond what you are already doing, in line with your current practice. Research and implement a new strategy, adapting it to your own context. Take part in disciplined inquiry. Join and engage with a Teacher Learning Community.

What else could I try?

Disrupt/Discard

Do something differently, or stop doing something. Ask your pupils or colleagues for feedback, consider it carefully, and act on it selectively and thoughtfully. Choose a habit you would like to change, plan how to do this, and do it. Take part in lesson study or instructional coaching.

What might another way of doing this look like? How could I implement that? Is this practice still helpful?
